Put a note in your calendar to remind you to send and pick up clothes from the dry-cleaners
If your capsule wardrobe features several garments that require dry cleaning, then it is important to put a note in your calendar to remind you to drop these off at the dry cleaners and to pick them up after they have been cleaned.
The reason for this is as follows; when a person has a vast collection of clothes, it doesn't really matter very much if they occasionally forget to drop off their dirty garments at the local dry cleaning facility.
However, if you have decided to embrace the concept of the capsule wardrobe, then you will only have a limited number of garments available at any one time.
As such, if you don't remember to get certain garments dry-cleaned or if you forget to collect them after they have been laundered, then you may end up with very few clothes that are clean enough for you to wear.
Use low temperature, slow-spin wash cycles when washing your clothing
There are many perks associated with getting rid of superfluous clothing and wearing only a small collection of items that you love and which suit your body type.
However, one of the downsides is that you will probably find yourself having to do laundry more frequently than you did when you had an overflowing wardrobe.
If for example, you only have four t-shirts and each one needs to be washed after being worn once, you will need to wash these garments once every four days.
This means that these items could wear out quite quickly, as the hot water and the spinning motion that garments are subjected to when they are put into a washing machine could cause damage. The hot water can, for example, affect the size and shape of certain items, whilst the spinning motion of the drum can cause threads to loosen and zips, buttons and hooks to fall off.
To ensure that your newly-curated capsule wardrobe does not sustain this type of damage, you should make sure that you only wash your garments in cool water and choose a gentle spin cycle. This should keep them in good condition for a long period of time, even if you wash them very frequently.
